Can a ghost marry a human being? Bhootach Lagna is one such new & upcoming Marathi Natak that plans to show us the same – “Mansacha Bhootashi Lagna”.
Bhootach Lagna Natak, written & directed by Sanket Bendre, and produced by Satyajeet Bhaleroa & Sunita Theatres Natya Sanstha, cleverly blends together the elements of horror, suspense, thrill, drama and comedy, and this is my personal review blog of this Natak.
Bhootach Lagna Natak Story
The story of Bhootach Lagna revolves around a father, his daughter (Hema), and their house help (Vismay). Their lives are intertwined with Vismay as he helps the father in his business as well also assists in all their housework.
As the story continues, we’re introduced to Hema, the spirited daughter who has just aced her final exams. Her achievement in the exams, however, sets off a chain of suspense, horror, and thrilling events that lead us through a series of emotions.
Furthermore, now that Hema has passed her exams, her father decides to get her daughter married to a good person. He starts looking for the perfect guy for her, but little does he know that his daughter’s heart beats for someone else—a vegetable seller (Rakesh), to be precise.
Now Hema and Rakesh both know that Hema’s father would not agree to this marriage. Rakesh and Hema’s dad are both complete opposites to each other. Their different backgrounds make things complicated, and it looks like their love might not work out.
Just when you think you know where the story is going, Bhootach Lagna surprises you. Hema’s dad finds out about her secret love. At first, the father agrees to their marriage, but here comes the surprise. He sends his daughter on a short trip to Goa and promises to send the young man, Rakesh, whom his daughter loves, along with her.
But that’s when things take a turn. The father is deeply upset when he learns that his daughter wants to marry a vegetable seller. He feels that his daughter is disrespecting him completely by not following any family traditions.
So, in order to prevent this marriage at any cost, the father decides to take a drastic step. He approaches Vismay, a full-time helper working in their home, and asks him to come up with a plan to get rid of Rakesh. In short, he asks him to make a plan to kill him.
Vismay manages to carry out Rakesh’s killing successfully. Now how he accomplishes this is something you need to watch in the Natak itself.

How Will “Bhootach Lagna” Happen?
On the other hand, Vismay, driven by his greed, makes a plan to take control of his owner’s property. As part of his plan, he even manipulates the father into signing some papers for transferring the property. Once done, tragically, Vismay ends up killing the father by adding poison to his alcoholic drink.
Upon discovering her father’s lifeless body, Hema, his daughter, is completely shattered and devastated. And most importantly, between all these thrilling twists and turns, Rakesh’s ghost starts appearing in front of Vismay. The ghost terrifies Vismay and keeps threatening him with killing.
Vismay, completely filled with fear, asks Rakesh’s ghost to spare his life. However, the ghost agrees to spare his life on the basis of 2 conditions – Firstly, he needs to confess that he has killed Hema’s father himself. Secondly, he has to arrange the marriage between Rakesh’s ghost and Hema.
And thus unfolds the peculiar tale of a ghost’s choice to wed a human (“Mansacha Bhootashi Lagna”) – namely, Rakesh’s decision to marry Hema.
But will Vismay confess to his bad actions?
And will love win?
Especially when things get tough?
And how exactly “Bhootach Lagna” will happen?
To disclose this all will be a spoiler for the Natak; thus, it is something you need to watch yourself in one of their upcoming shows.
